Each refit project is its own new beginning, promising the potential of enjoyment with family and friends and future memories to be made. Thatโ€™s exactly what the owner of the 64โ€™ Grand Banks Paikea II had in mind for his trawler yacht refit project.

Rather than purchasing a new boat, the owner decided to undertake an extensive refit on his beloved current yacht to both update the look and create a functional space to suit his young family. This project was significant in scope, and included transforming the guest accommodations, removing built-in furniture, incorporating functional outdoor entertainment and cooking areas and restoring the woodwork throughout.

The owner requested that the main salon be multi-functional to accommodate both entertaining and overflow sleeping, so we removed some of the built-in furniture and bookshelves and fabricated a comfy sofa with a pull-out bed in lieu of the built-in settee.

The lower deck accommodations originally included a midship study with a desk, a settee that could be used to sleep one person and a head with no shower. To accommodate as many family members as possible, we transformed the study into a stateroom with two twin beds, one which will slide to create one larger bed, and a full head with a shower.

Overall we gave yacht a fresh, updated look, with the faded teak being toned to have a rich mahogany look in some areas and painted a contrasting bright white in others.
