There is something quietly transformative about light. It reshapes a space, softens its edges, and invites a new way of living within it. Aboard the 86â Sunseeker Cool Change, that transformation began with a simple yet ambitious brief: open up the interior and create a lighter, more contemporary atmosphere throughout.
The main salon set the tone for the refit. By removing the existing center TV cabinet, the space was immediately given room to breathe. The forward bulkhead, once defined by dark wood and mirror, has been reimagined with clean white material panels that frame the new television, creating a focal point that feels both architectural and understated. Scale and sightlines were equally important. Oversized dining and occasional chairs have been replaced with more refined, lower-profile seating, allowing for improved flow and unobstructed views across the salon.
Materiality played a central role in redefining the interior. Dark gray granite has been replaced with crisp white quartz, while furnishings and window treatments have been either reupholstered or replaced in a palette of soft whites. Layered within this foundation are subtle contrasts of gray and black, introduced through accents and accessories that lend depth without overwhelming the space. The result is a composition that feels cohesive, modern, and effortlessly livable.
This language continues below deck, where the same tonal story carries through the staterooms. Bedding, upholstery, and window treatments echo the salonâs palette, creating a seamless transition between spaces and reinforcing a sense of calm continuity throughout the yacht.
As the project neared completion, the final layer of personality began to take shape. The owner joined us in the showroom to curate accessories and tabletop selections, adding a distinctive character to the refined backdrop. The exterior styling draws inspiration from Missoni, introducing a playful rhythm of pattern and color, while the interior takes on a subtle note of glamour. Whites and silvers are complemented by touches of gold, balanced with black and gray accents and a hint of sparkle that catches the light in just the right way.
Texture and material contrast further elevate the design. Mixed metals appear throughout the accessories, creating visual interest without disrupting the overall harmony. A standout feature is the custom-designed cocktail table, fabricated from an innovative resin material that evokes the depth of ebony paired with the clarity of acrylic, a piece that feels both contemporary and sculptural.
Now complete, Cool Change stands as a study in thoughtful transformation. What was once a darker, more enclosed interior has been reimagined into a light-filled, inviting environment that reflects both modern sensibilities and the ownerâs personal style.
