The rarity of a Blue Moon – as well as a full moon on Halloween – is quite the treat, and something that wonโt be experienced for another 19 years. Plenty of superstitions surround the Blue Moon (turn your bed over during a Blue Moon for fertility or pick flowers under a Blue Moon for good fortune, for example), but the full moon itself is also a symbol of culmination and completion – something we yacht designers embrace with enthusiasm! Plenty of superstition and symbolism makes its way into yacht design and decor as well. Paintings of shipwrecks or stormy seas, for example, are frowned upon in yacht decor – for obvious reasons – as are bananas, as they were known to harbor a certain species of poisonous spider.
One of the quickest and easiest ways to change the mood or reflect the changing seasons is through your table decor. We have had so much fun working with great designers and brands on their seasonal tablesettings. Itโs not about finding pieces that are overtly seasonal, however. Particularly when you are working with limited onboard space, blending seasonal colors and tones – and perhaps just a splash of sparkle – allows you to mix and match tableware, linens and napkin rings for a unique looks throughout the year! The final installation of Phase I has wrapped aboard the 85โ Ocean Alexander,ย Uncorked, and her new owners – longtime friends who travel together often – have set out on their first voyage! We originally worked on this yacht as a new build and were introduced to the new owners by broker Scott Roberton of Marine Max. Phase I of this project has included changing all of the exterior stone and exterior canvas, reupholstering the interior furniture and incorporating new bedding, accent pillows, accessories and outfitting items.
