112' Westport Yacht Refit Symphony
When I first met the new owners of this Westport 112′ to discuss their refit project, I asked them: do they want a Bentley or a Cadillac? These owners loved this question and answered, “We want a Bentley!” They own a Bentley, so it became a bit of a recurring joke, I found the quote: “Refined Comfort in a Tranquil Space” and it became the theme for this refit. That to me translated very well to the casual elegance these clients were after. Although the original plan was to leave most of the original Sapele wood, we began covering more and more of it until finally, the owners decided to paint the interior leaving only traces behind in the galley floor and pilothouse cabinetry. Without overdoing it, we were creating a comfortable space with a little touch of style. Chic. Like a Bentley.
Entry Foyer Art Installation
With every project, we like to create a special piece of art, and the entry foyer of the Westport 112 has a niche that lends itself well to a custom piece. We decided on a piece that commemorates the owners’ special song while also welcoming guests aboard. At the carpentry shop, we altered the design slightly so that the treble clef in the background mimics the Symphony logo symbol.
Main Deck Entry Foyer & Day Head
In the main deck foyer, we incorporated a white linen and gold studded custom wallcovering. A white and gold tile flooring extends through the foyer into the day head, with its black stone washbasin and patterned tile for a contemporary feel.
Main Salon
We removed the traditional raised panels from the forward bulkhead, covered the wall in a white linen wall covering, and framed it in a cream-colored shagreen resin frame for a focal point around the dining table. We used high gloss black automotive paint in keeping with the Bentley theme in the aft port and starboard cabinetry, port, and starboard cabinets in the dining salon, as well as the day head and foyer, and selected a gold basin for the wet bar sink to tie it all together. We redesigned the bar creating a completely open display bar removing the sink and designing an additional sink cabinet off to the side so that all of the client’s bar glasses could be kept in the bar without obstruction from the sink and faucet.
Galley
In the galley, we added resin inserts with soft gold reeded accents to the cabinet doors and implemented hardware of a soft gold and black shagreen finish in all of the hardware. This cabinetry also features a high-gloss metallic champagne paint reminiscent of the automotive hint throughout.
VIP
Work continues in the VIP stateroom and head with paint throughout, textural wallcovering in the stateroom, geometric upholstered headboard panels in the stateroom and white and gold floor tile in the head.
Pilothouse
Aside from the galley floor, The pilothouse is the only other place you will still see any of the original wood left in the yacht. In keeping with the luxury Bentley theme, we incorporated red and black leather in the pilothouse upholstery with Bentley-style diamond contrast stitching. The white and silver flecked cork wall covering has gone up on the aft bulkhead the stairs have been covered in black laminate. And we covered the table in black quartz with silver flecks from Cambria Quartz’s Jewel Collection.
Stairwells
The stair risers to the lower foyer have been painted white and the stairs to the pilothouse an automotive black. One stair wall to the lower foyer has been painted white and is complemented by an opposite wall covered in the same white linen and gold studded custom wall covering that adorns the main deck port and starboard foyers.
Lower Foyer
The cabinet highlighting the lower deck foyer was painted a high-gloss black and set off by a gold studded Thassos White geometric marble floor covering.
Doors
We cut out the mahogany flame pattern center panels prevalent in the doors throughout, painted the doors and replaced the center panels with white resin shagreen panels outlined in black.
Master Stateroom
The original Sapele wood has been painted a bright white in the master stateroom and the Silestone Quartz vanity top has been installed.
Master En Suite
The original Sapele wood had been painted a bright white in the master head and the Thassos White Marble tile floor has been laid.
Queen Stateroom
Painting and textural wall covering installation also continues in the queen stateroom
Twin Stateroom
Painting and textural wall covering installation also continue in the twin stateroom. Here we decided to bring back the Bentley theme once again with white and black leather in vertical and Bentley-style diamond contrast stitching on tailored panels which will be installed along the headboard wall.
Guest Heads
Painting and wall covering installation continue in the Guest Heads as well as a geometric white-on-white patterned tile, brushed brass plumbing fixtures and LED mirrors.
Exterior
Throughout the exterior, new stone tops have gone in, and all new RGB LED lighting. The existing wood bar and table tops are in the process of being refinished and we have installed stainless rails and steps up to where our new sun pad will soon be installed. On the flybridge we changed the configuration of the dinette settee for a better seating arrangement at the dining table.
